About The Position

This role is part of a 2-year Press Manufacturing Engineer Development Program designed to prepare individuals for the position of Press Manufacturing Engineer. During the program, participants will gain in-depth knowledge of press mechanics, maintenance, and repair. Upon completion, they will lead teams in maintaining and repairing presses, as well as implementing innovative ideas for equipment and process improvements. The focus will be on optimizing safety and quality to enhance equipment performance and reliability. The role is primarily a day shift position but may require work on other shifts for equipment repairs, training, or management support. Extended hours may be necessary during equipment failures. The position involves close collaboration with plant trades, plant leaders, the headquarters press engineering group, suppliers, and controls engineers to troubleshoot, find solutions, and implement best practices from other facilities. Strong technical judgment and hands-on problem-solving skills are essential.

Requirements

  • 1+ years experience in a Press related Manufacturing environment or related experience
  • Knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Understanding of engineering theory, manufacturing methods, and equipment operation principles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft tools.
  • Experience using CAD and engineering systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, initiative, and ability to work effectively in ambiguous situations.
  • High level of integrity and ability to work independently as well with teams.
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time
  • Ability to work any shift

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors of Science in Engineering preferred.
  • Experience developing and maintaining machinery.
  • Hands-on experience operating and troubleshooting industrial machinery or automation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with controls engineering, IT, suppliers, and HQ press group to maintain / repair the stamping presses / equipment in your facility.
  • Analyze existing systems and identify opportunities to improve accuracy, reliability, speed, and overall performance.
  • Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions related to press and automation system issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues involving equipment, machinery, and automation systems.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing efficiency, quality, and cost performance.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation related to equipment.
  • Support training for production and plant personnel on the operation and maintenance of press and automation systems.
  • Work with internal partners and external suppliers to implement cost reduction strategies and manufacturing improvements.
