About The Position

York Container, an Atlantic Packaging Company, is seeking a motivated Press Helper to assist the operator and assistant with machine setup and operation. The role focuses on time-saving practices that reduce downtime and setup times while ensuring quality products are released to customers. The position is based in a manufacturing environment that is not temperature controlled; employees should dress appropriately for hot summers and cold winters. Jewelry and baggy clothing are not permitted for safety reasons, and hearing protection is required at all times in the plant. Some machine centers require hand and arm protection; company-issued gloves and sleeves will be provided when necessary. Employees must follow facility safety guidelines, including Good Manufacturing Practices and food-safety procedures.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred.
At least 2 years of corrugated experience or related manufacturing industry experience preferred.
Follow facility safety guidelines, including GMP and food-safety procedures.
Wear required hearing protection in the plant and any required hand and arm protection at designated machine centers.
No jewelry or baggy clothing in the manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

Assist the operator and assistant with machine setup and operation, using practices that reduce downtime and setup times.
Work safely and with urgency in a fast-paced environment.
Limit scrap waste, deliver scrap to the proper department when the scrap truck is full, and tag it accurately for waste reporting.
Collect top and bottom sheets (dunnage) to expedite the converting process.
Pack products for shipment according to individual order specifications.
Learn and follow lockout/tagout procedures.
Follow reporting processes and accurately complete production paperwork and CTI/HRMS records.
Hang print plates, mount die boards, and handle ink.
Read and understand production order copy for every production run and assist the operator in ensuring product quality, including using basic corrugated terminology.
Understand machine mechanical functionality and perform in-depth press cleaning when scheduled.
Run the press when the operator is unavailable.
Work overtime when production needs require it.
