About The Position

Perform duties to help a metal fabrication team/team lead to set up and operate a range of CNC fabrication equipment to bend, punch, cut, or otherwise form metal parts, working within the limits of standard methods and procedures and making decisions as to sequence of operations as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum Personal Protection Equipment (PPE): Safety Glasses – ANSI Z87.1 Gloves – ANSI cut 5 Foot Protection, Steel Toe – ASTM F2413-11 Sleeves ANSI cut 5 Ear plug (Punch area only)
  • Frequently push with up to 120 lbs. of force.
  • Occasionally push and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, crouch, kneel, climb, maneuver, stoop, squat, grasp, and reach.
  • Visual and aural acuity

Responsibilities

  • Direct work based on information from the Quality Management Software (ETQ), production schedules, bills of materials, Engineering Change Request (ECR), and work instructions.
  • Help start shift team meetings to communicate schedules, priorities, safety and production issues, and other necessary information to ensure that all team members are aware of shift requirements and pending issues.
  • Assign work in accordance with production schedules and standard procedures.
  • Assist to resolve problems related to sub-assemblies, installation, and schedule adjustments.
  • Report any material shortages and ensure that the purchasing and production manager are made aware of immediate materials that may impact the status of work in process and production schedules.
  • Monitor and clear NCRs and Engineering Change Request (ECRs) to ensure production can complete their units.
  • Work/assist alongside team members to calculate angles and bend thicknesses and other critical elements to determine appropriate tooling and settings.
  • Set up fabrication equipment including Press brakes, Punch press, and Fiber Laser.
  • Verify conformance of first piece to specifications using protractor, calipers, material gauge, and measuring tape.
  • Gauge work pieces randomly through run to ensure maintenance of settings and adjust as necessary.
  • Perform any departmental work assignments to maintain workflow in metal fabrication functions.
  • Track hours and job numbers to complete the daily pass down.
  • Help Inspect each order before movement to the next line function.
  • Validate part numbers, revisions quantity, and inspect parts for conformance.
  • Examine part drawings to ensure they match the finished parts.
  • If any parts or drawings fail inspection notify supervisor.
  • Help team members with any training needed to operate equipment, in the performance of job duties, and any range of function required to complete the Metal Fabricator’s tasks.
  • Report to Supervisor on safety concerns, work infractions, training requirements, and performance issues and recommend action to be taken in keeping with standard procedures.
  • Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Consistently operate in keeping with all safety rules and requirements.
  • Perform or assist with any operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements.
  • Participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
