Press Brake Operator
About The Position
JPW Companies is seeking an experienced Press Brake Operator to join its team in Syracuse, New York. The role involves operating CNC or conventional press brakes in a manufacturing and metal fabrication environment, with an emphasis on precision, quality, and safety. The position requires at least three years of experience and the ability to produce high-quality work. The operator sets up and runs press brake equipment, interprets blueprints and technical drawings, inspects finished parts against tight tolerances, handles sheet metal and production batches, and performs routine equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. The role also requires compliance with OSHA guidelines and the use of required personal protective equipment. The position is not remote.
Requirements
- At least three years of experience.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Experience operating CNC or conventional press brakes.
- Understanding of metal characteristics and ability to read blueprints.
- Working knowledge of shop math, angles, and precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to stand for long shifts, perform repetitive motions, and lift heavy metal pieces, often up to 50 pounds.
- Commitment to precision, quality, and safe work practices.

Responsibilities
- Load tooling, select dies, and input or adjust CNC programs to achieve specified angles and dimensions.
- Read technical specifications, shop drawings, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) symbols.
- Measure finished metal parts with precision instruments, including calipers, micrometers, and height gauges, to verify tolerances.
- Feed sheet metal into the press and run production batches.
- Safely operate forklifts or hoist equipment to handle materials.
- Perform daily and weekly equipment cleaning and inspect hydraulic systems.
- Correct minor bending errors and tooling issues.
- Follow OSHA guidelines, wear required personal protective equipment, and keep the workspace clear of scrap and oil spills.
