Press Brake Operator B - 2nd Shift (3:15pm - 11:45pm)

Perlick Corporation•Milwaukee, WI
•Onsite

About The Position

Set up, adjust, and operate press brakes to perform forming and bending operations on materials of various gauges while meeting close dimensional requirements. Position, align, and secure forming dies; adjust ram stroke to suit the material gauge, angle, or contour; and set stop gauges to match specifications, templates, or samples. Limited setup knowledge is acceptable when bidding for the position, but candidates must have at least six months of machine-operation experience. The operator must be capable of performing basic press brake equipment setups within six months of starting and continue learning more advanced setups over time. The role requires meeting established efficiency and productivity standards and working with minimum supervision while remaining responsible for the quality of one's own work. Work is subject to process and final inspection. The operator determines bend sequences for multiple-pass work and improvises setups for special shapes, including single or compound radii and angle flanges. Work is performed from drawings, specifications, templates, and samples. A $1.00 shift differential is available for the 2nd shift schedule of 3:15 p.m. to 11:45 p.m.

Requirements

  • At least six months of machine-operation experience.
  • Ability to perform basic press brake equipment setups within six months of starting and willingness to continue learning advanced setups.
  • Knowledge of basic mechanical principles, metal-fabricating methods, and basic mathematics, as may be acquired through vocational or high school education.
  • Knowledge of press brake equipment and procedures, generally obtained through a two-year high school or vocational education program.
  • Entry-level blueprint-reading skills demonstrated through completion of a basic Welders Blueprint Reading class at a technical school or equivalent level.
  • Ability to meet established efficiency and productivity standards.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, adjust, and operate press brakes for forming and bending materials of various gauges to close dimensional requirements.
  • Position, align, and secure forming dies; adjust ram stroke and set stop gauges to meet specifications, templates, or samples.
  • Determine the sequence of bends for multiple-pass operations involving bends at various angles and in different planes.
  • Improvise setups for special shapes, including single or compound radii and angle flanges, making careful ram adjustments to avoid surface irregularities.
  • Work from drawings, specifications, templates, and samples.
  • Use scales, squares, protractors, calipers, micrometers, and angle and radius sweep gauges to set up and check work.
  • Meet established efficiency and productivity standards.
  • Maintain responsibility for the quality of own work and perform with minimum supervision.
  • Develop basic press brake setup capability within six months and continue learning more advanced setups.

Benefits

  • $1.00 shift differential
