About The Position

Brook + Whittle, one of North America's leading sustainable labeling solutions providers, is seeking a Press Assistant to join our team. The Press Assistant is responsible for supporting the Flexographic Press Operator in all aspects of press setup, operation, and production while maintaining quality, safety, and productivity standards.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or GED required.
  • One (1) year of machine experience or more working within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Must be able to lift / push / pull up to 50 lbs unassisted.
  • Must be able to stand for the majority of shift.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, grasp, climb and reach frequently.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without restriction.

Nice To Haves

  • S.M.E.D. Training desired.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Flexographic Press Operator with all aspects of make-readies and job production.
  • When needed, provide support on Rotogravure Presses.
  • Stage raw material rolls for operators with core tags readily accessible.
  • Load raw materials, make splices, and verify that all splices meet quality standards.
  • Assist operators with changeovers and web breaks.
  • Label finished rolls with the appropriate neon labels and core tags.
  • Monitor roll changes and maintain accurate roll number logs.
  • Assist Ink Technicians as needed.
  • Operate forklifts and Pit Crew equipment as required.
  • Report machine and equipment malfunctions to supervisors and maintenance personnel.
  • Understand and follow all company policies, procedures, work instructions, safety rules, and regulations.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to learning press operations with the goal of advancing to a Press Operator role.
  • Consult with the Department Manager and Quality Assurance regarding quality-related concerns or defects.
  • Assist with root cause investigations and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Relocate skids while maintaining proper product segregation and keeping the pressroom organized and clean.
  • Complete all required production and quality documentation accurately.
  • Work overtime as required to meet production demands.
  • Provide coverage for Press Operators during breaks, vacations, and absences.
  • Communicate regularly with the Press Hall Supervisor regarding assigned duties and priorities.
  • Perform all duties with a focus on maximizing press hall efficiency and productivity.
  • Identify and support process improvements and productivity enhancement opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
