About The Position

As Press Helper/Assistant, you will be responsible for setting up and preparing of materials that are specified on the work order. You will also be required to follow and write policy for safety and work procedures. Communication, good attitude, and good attendance are also required. As a Press Helper/Assistant you will work hand and hand with the Operator in the production process. This role supports operations in the Press Department as part of the AF-Shelbyville Operations Team and has no direct reports.

Requirements

  • 1 year working in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must be able to flex hours in order to support multi-shift operation.
  • Ability to stay on task and follow instruction.
  • Basic measurement, math, communication, reading and writing skills.
  • Ability to understand and apply all Amcor safety, quality and production standards.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and lift continuously for up to 12 hours.
  • Ability to repeatedly lift up to 50 lbs without assistance.
  • Ability and willingness to drive forklift.
  • Must prioritize safety, above all else.

Responsibilities

  • Be aware of, adhere to and help to improve all safety standards and procedures at AF-Shelbyville.
  • Be aware of, adhere to and help to improve all quality standards and procedures at AF-Shelbyville.
  • Be aware of, adhere to and help to improve all production standards and procedures at AF-Shelbyville.
  • Learn and apply understanding of current operating standards and practices. Willingly learn and apply new standards and practices.
  • Willing to learn and apply new skills.
  • Understand and make accurate measurements. Possess basic, high school-level math skills.
  • Read, comprehend and follow verbal or written instructions in English.
  • Understand and complete all paperwork related to operations.
  • Label and palletize finished rolls.
  • Acquire and stock all necessary operating supplies and materials for the Finishing equipment.
  • Assist Press Operator with set ups, paperwork and operation of equipment.
  • Learn and apply knowledge of Quality standards and procedures. Learn to identify quality defects.
  • Learn and apply knowledge of Work Order specifications.
  • Assist with the take down and set up of jobs.
  • Clean cylinders, wash up decks, and sumps.
  • Refill and maintain ink supply, and test ink viscosity.
  • Responsible for all press material at machine, film, inks.
  • Complete tasks and help produce pharmaceutical quality product in a timely manner.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Work with co-workers and management in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Cover for Operator when needed (cross train).
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.
