This role assists in routine aspects of press operation, including set-up, maintenance, and operation, with all press department members expected to work as a team to meet standards in safety, quality, and productivity.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, understand, and carry out written instructions
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Working knowledge of the mechanics and capabilities of the press
  • Understanding of troubleshooting and quality control protocol, methods, and procedures
  • Strong computer skills
  • Must be able to work other shifts and overtime as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Prior folding carton experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate commitment to safety and perform job duties in accordance with our policies and procedures
  • Responsible for compliance with all facility food safety, food defense, and quality policies and procedures including product safety (GMPs)/Sanitation policies and procedures. Employee must continually work to promote the orderliness and cleanliness of their work area in support of SQF/5S and other company standards.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain feeder, print units, and coating unit
  • Ensure board quality and availability
  • Maintain proper level of consumables (coatings, inks, solvents)
  • Ensure accurate information is communicated between shifts
  • Remove loaded skid and replace as needed; reverse out unused loads and print new tag
  • Examine printed copy for ink density, position, registration, and color density
  • Examine offset printing plates and provide feedback as needed
  • Operate delivery of color management system
  • Communicate with plate room and ink vendor
  • Perform all duties in accordance with company safety rules
  • Complete daily log sheets
  • Ensure accurate reporting into SAP (i.e., issue material to job)
  • Perform all required maintenance
  • Assist in any tasks as directed by the press operator
  • Serve as backup operator when necessary, including keeping the press running through breaks
  • Provide feedback as needed to Utility and/or Press Helper regarding board quality
  • Work overtime as needed to meet production and customer demands
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
