About The Position

Erie Mutual, a mutual insurer serving the Niagara Peninsula and Haldimand County since 1871, is seeking a new President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the company following the retirement of the current CEO on August 1, 2026. The company, which underwrote nearly $10 million in gross written premiums in 2025 with 25 employees including 9 captive agents, is committed to its policyholders and communities. The new CEO will be instrumental in driving growth, profitability, and sustainability, embracing the values of mutuality while fostering change and vision. Key areas of focus include strategic planning, financial leadership, Board relations, employee development, regulatory compliance, governance, risk management, and public representation. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for community involvement, and the ability to translate strategy into action.

Requirements

A minimum of 5 years’ management experience in the property and casualty insurance industry
Proven leadership skills – ability to delegate and support, empathetic, motivating, persuasive
Passion for community involvement
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Analytical and quantitative skills
Previous experience of working with a Board of Directors
Strategic thought leader - ability to turn strategy to action
Critical thinking to support capable decision making
University degree or equivalent experience
Insurance Professional designation (CIP or FCIP)
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
