About The Position

Educational Opportunities for Children and Families (EOCF) is seeking a Preschool Teacher Assistant to assist a classroom teacher in creating and implementing a developmentally appropriate educational experience for children ages 3–5. The role supports curriculum delivery aligned with Head Start and early childhood education best practices, and helps foster children’s development in a safe, nurturing classroom. The position offers $20.28–$20.57 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. A training plan may be considered based on qualifications.

Requirements

• For fully qualified applicants: Certificate of Proficiency in Early Childhood Education, current CDA certificate, or Washington State Initial Certificate in Early Childhood Education.
• For trainee-qualified applicants: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to implement established child development practices, principles, and performance standards in a comprehensive classroom environment.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
• Ability to use a team approach to resolve problems or conflicts.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job, including regular crouching, stooping, bending, kneeling, sitting on the floor to assist and engage with children, and monitoring safe play and supervision outdoors on a playground.

Nice To Haves

• One year of experience working with children ages 3–5 in an early childhood setting.
• Bilingual skills are highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of curriculum aligned with Head Start and early childhood education best practices.
• Assist in promoting children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
• Help prepare and maintain classroom materials and learning environments.
• Foster a safe and nurturing atmosphere for all children.
• Assist with documentation, assessments, and parent communication as directed.
• Actively supervise children during indoor and outdoor play and mealtimes.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure quality and consistency across the classroom.
