About The Position

The Preschool Special Education Building Support Educator ensures consistent coverage and support in preschool special education classrooms. This role provides supervision and instructional support for students, particularly those with special needs, when teachers are engaged in planning, meetings, or case management tasks. The educator helps maintain a safe, structured, and caring classroom environment aligned with each teacher’s daily plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required (education, psychology, child development, or related field preferred).
  • Experience working with young children strongly preferred; experience with children with special needs is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and flexibility.
  • Ability to maintain a positive and structured classroom environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preschool classroom during times when the teacher is unavailable for instruction.
  • Follow daily routines and lesson plans provided by the teacher.
  • Provide supervision, care, and guidance for preschool students, including those with special needs.
  • Support students during activities, transitions, meals, and playtime.
  • Reinforce positive behavior and classroom expectations.
  • Collaborate with building administrators and support staff to ensure student needs are met.
