About The Position

As a Preschool Multi-Classroom Teacher at Merryhill School, you will help create a safe, nurturing, and developmentally rich environment for preschool students. The position works across multiple preschool classrooms, supporting teachers and engaging students through purposeful play, hands-on learning, and developmentally appropriate activities. You will adapt to different classrooms and age groups to provide continuity and stability throughout the school. When a classroom has a vacancy or a teacher is unavailable, you may step into a lead teaching role to maintain established routines and provide a consistent, high-quality learning experience. The role also involves fostering students’ early literacy, language development, mathematical thinking, motor skills, and social-emotional growth; collaborating with teachers and school leadership; maintaining safe and engaging learning spaces; communicating with families and colleagues; and following health, safety, licensing, and developmental requirements. Participation in staff meetings, school events, and professional-development opportunities is expected.

Requirements

12 semester units or 18 quarter units in early childhood education, including coursework in child development, child/family/community, and curriculum; or a bachelor’s degree in Child Development.
Ability to work effectively across multiple classrooms, age groups, and instructional environments.
Strong communication, collaboration, and classroom-management skills.
Patience, adaptability, compassion, and enthusiasm for working with young children.
Ability to support a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
Ability to meet the physical demands of working with young children, including sitting on the floor, bending, lifting, and participating in active play.
Ability to successfully complete all required background-check and state-licensing requirements.

Nice To Haves

Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
Prior experience working with preschool-aged children in an educational setting.

Responsibilities

Support multiple preschool classrooms based on daily staffing and program needs.

Maintain clean, organized, and engaging learning spaces.
Communicate positively and professionally with families, colleagues, and school leadership.
Ensure compliance with health and safety policies, licensing requirements, and developmental standards.
Participate in staff meetings, school events, and professional-development opportunities.
