About The Position
The Learning Experience is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Preschool Cook to prepare daily nutritious meals for preschool children. The role helps support children, their families, and the community by providing healthy meals that meet CACFP nutritional requirements while maintaining food safety and allergy awareness. The cook works with center leadership and the director on purchasing, inventory, ordering, and required records, and provides positive, effective service to parents and children.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of experience in food preparation and cooking.
- Food handling certificate, or ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
- Familiarity with CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) guidelines and record keeping.
Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and cook healthy, delicious meals for preschool children that meet CACFP nutritional requirements.
- Track each child’s food allergies and communicate identified allergies to teachers daily with every food delivery.
- Follow food safety, handling, and sanitation procedures and ensure food is stored properly.
- Collaborate with the Center Leadership team to purchase necessary food and supplies and maintain inventory records required by local and state agencies.
- Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with parents and children.
- Adapt to the daily business needs of a childcare center.
- Maintain accurate menus, production records, and meal counts.
- Work with the director to manage food inventory and ordering.
