About The Position
The Learning Experience is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Preschool Cook to prepare daily nutritious meals for preschool children. The cook helps support children, families, and communities by preparing healthy meals, keeping children safe by tracking food allergies, and maintaining food safety and sanitation practices. The role also includes purchasing food and supplies with the Center Leadership team, maintaining required inventory records, and communicating positively with parents, children, and colleagues.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of experience in food preparation and cooking.
- Food handling certificate, or ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and cook healthy, delicious meals for preschool children that meet proper nutritional requirements.
- Maintain and track each child’s food allergies and communicate identified allergies to teachers daily with every food delivery.
- Follow food safety, handling, and sanitation procedures and ensure food is stored properly.
- Collaborate with the Center Leadership team to purchase necessary food and supplies.
- Keep inventory records as required by local and state agencies.
- Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with parents and children.
- Adapt to the daily business needs of a childcare center.
