About The Position

The Learning Experience is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Preschool Cook to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, preparing, and cooking daily nutritious meals for preschool children, ensuring they meet proper nutritional requirements. A key aspect of the position involves maintaining and tracking food allergies for each child, communicating these to teachers daily, and adhering to strict food safety, handling, and sanitation procedures. You will also collaborate with the Center Leadership team for food and supply purchasing and inventory management. The role requires providing excellent customer service to parents and children, maintaining a positive attitude, and being flexible and adaptable to the daily needs of a childcare center, which includes caring for children and assisting with diapering as needed during breaks, and being available to open the school early when required. The Learning Experience focuses on making early education joyful, engaging, and fun, with a curriculum designed around the six ages and stages of early childhood development, encouraging hands-on learning and problem-solving.

Requirements

• A High School Diploma or equivalent
• 1+ year of experience in food preparation and cooking
• A food handling certificate or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire
• The ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and cook healthy and delicious meals for preschool children that meet proper nutritional requirements
• Maintain and track food allergies for each child in our center, ensuring their safety, and communicate any identified allergies to teachers daily with every food delivery
• Follow proper food safety, handling, and sanitation procedures to ensure food is stored properly
• Collaborate with the Center Leadership team to purchase all necessary food and supplies and keep inventory records as local and state agencies require
• Provide excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards parents and children, listen, and communicate effectively
• Be flexible and adaptable to the daily business needs of a childcare center
• Do 1-2 breaks each day until we are near full capacity (Care for children and Diaper them as needed)
• Be willing to open the school at 6:15 when needed
