About The Position

The Preschool Bus Aide rides along on daily bus routes to support the safe, comfortable transportation of children. Working with the bus driver, the aide supervises and assists children during transportation, helps them board and exit safely, and supports a positive experience for children and families. The role includes maintaining attendance records, monitoring children's time on the bus, assisting with route support and safety checks, and following transportation safety procedures. The aide must maintain current First Aid and CPR certification.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to acquire and maintain current First Aid and CPR certification.
• Commitment to providing safe, dependable transportation and creating a positive experience for children and families.
• Submit fingerprints for a State of Michigan Background Check and provide an acceptable form of identification for the fingerprinting appointment; failure to submit fingerprints results in ineligibility for hire within the program.

Nice To Haves

• One year of experience caring for young children is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ride along on daily bus routes and assist with the safe transportation of children.
• Ensure children are properly secured and supervised at all times.
• Help children safely board and exit the bus, including hand-to-hand transfers with parents or guardians.
• Maintain attendance records and monitor children's time on the bus.
• Use positive behavior support techniques to create a safe and welcoming environment.
• Assist the driver with route support and required safety checks.
• Maintain current First Aid and CPR certification and follow all transportation safety procedures.
