About The Position

L’Alliance Preschool is seeking a warm, responsible, and engaging educator to support its daily aftercare program. The Preschool Aftercare Assistant helps provide a safe, nurturing, and enjoyable environment for preschool students ages 2½ to 5½ at the end of their school day, creating a calm, positive transition from school to pickup. The assistant works closely with the Preschool team and follows the school’s routines, expectations, and safety procedures. The role is part-time, non-exempt, and in person, Monday through Friday from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM. The stated start date is October 2026. The salary is $20.60 per hour. L’Alliance New York is an independent, not-for-profit organization and a center for French language, francophone arts, and cultures. It offers French language classes and multidisciplinary cultural programming. Requirements

Must hold valid U.S. work authorization.
Previous experience working with young children, preferably in a preschool, school, daycare, camp, or similar setting.
Genuine interest in early childhood education and child development.
Ability to lead age-appropriate activities and create engaging play experiences.
Comfort assisting children with bathroom and personal care needs as necessary.
Knowledge of, or willingness to follow, health, safety, and child supervision procedures.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to communicate professionally and respectfully with children, families, and colleagues.

Nice To Haves

Experience caring for children ages 2½ to 5½.
CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain it.
French proficiency.

Responsibilities

Supervise and care for students during aftercare, ensuring their safety, well-being, and comfort.
Create a warm and engaging environment through age-appropriate games, creative activities, books, and free play.
Support children’s social and emotional development by encouraging positive interactions, cooperation, and respectful behavior.
Assist children with bathroom and other personal care needs as necessary, including clothing and hygiene, and follow appropriate procedures in the event of accidents.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment in accordance with school health and safety procedures.
Help children prepare for pickup and ensure they are released safely to authorized adults.
Communicate relevant information about students, incidents, or concerns to the Preschool team.
Follow L’Alliance Preschool’s policies, routines, and expectations, and contribute to a safe, positive, and welcoming experience for children and families.
Perform other tasks as necessitated by the role and the overall business objectives of L’Alliance New York.
