About The Position

Qumulo is hiring a Presales Solutions Architect to serve as the technical authority in its field sales organization and partner with Account Executives to win enterprise deals across the Pacific Northwest. The role translates complex on-premise datacenter, hybrid-cloud, and unstructured-data challenges into scalable file and object architectures that address mission-critical customer problems.

The position combines technical expertise with strategic customer advising. The architect delivers hands-on proofs of concept alongside engineering teams and communicates business value to C-level executives. The role involves guiding customers from initial discovery through production success and travel of up to 50% across the Pacific Northwest United States.

Qumulo’s cloud data platform unifies file and object storage across data centers, edge locations, and public clouds. The company serves more than 1,100 customers and manages exabytes of data for demanding enterprise workloads.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of enterprise presales engineering experience, with a proven record supporting complex sales cycles involving cloud, distributed systems, or large-scale data platforms.
• Deep technical foundation in hybrid-cloud architectures, unstructured data, and modern storage environments spanning edge, core, and cloud.
• Familiarity with distributed file, object, or cloud storage ecosystems.
• Fluency in modern networking and protocols, including SMB, NFS, and S3.
• Command-line operational experience in Linux/Unix or Windows environments.
• Strong consultative and technical storytelling skills, including success leading whiteboarding sessions, technical discovery, hands-on demonstrations, and competitive proofs of concept for technical and executive audiences.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical enterprise experience.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident due to customer and contractual requirements.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with modern data platforms, hyperscale cloud storage services such as AWS S3, or enterprise infrastructure vendors such as NetApp, Dell/PowerScale, Pure Storage, VAST, or Weka.
• Relevant cloud or infrastructure certifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural discovery and translate complex data challenges into scalable file, object, and hybrid-cloud storage solutions.
• Deliver high-level design strategies and hands-on technical validation.
• Partner with enterprise Account Executives to steer deal strategy, develop technical proposals, and drive customer evaluations, proofs of concept, and competitive displacements.
• Build long-term technical relationships with customer stakeholders, including CIOs, VPs of Engineering, and storage leads.
• Explain hybrid-cloud architectures and guide customers from proof of concept to production.
• Travel up to 50% across the Pacific Northwest United States.
