Presales Solution Engineer - Edge AI

HP•TW2CA - Teleworker/Offsite-USA-CA, CO
•$192,550 - $284,000

About The Position

The Presales Solution Engineer – Edge AI is a customer-facing technical leader who turns Edge AI opportunities into measurable business outcomes and production-ready solutions. The role spans the customer journey from discovery and solution architecture through proof of concept (POC), validation, deployment, and production scale, serving as a technical bridge between customer requirements, HP’s Edge AI capabilities, Advanced Compute platforms, partners, and delivery organizations. Success is measured by moving customers from concept to production and delivering business value, not just by successful demonstrations or POCs. The engineer partners with customers, account teams, Enterprise Architects, and business stakeholders to understand challenges, technical requirements, workloads, infrastructure, data environments, and desired outcomes. They design end-to-end architectures, lead customer POCs and pilots, and own the technical transition of successful validations into production. They also provide technical leadership to HP’s Edge AI and Advanced Compute Practice, develop reusable architectures and methods, and support sales and business development through customer engagements and technical materials.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in technical presales, forward deployment engineering, solution engineering or architecture, AI infrastructure, advanced compute, or a related discipline, with strong experience in one or more of these areas.
  • Experience designing and deploying AI, Edge AI, computer vision, advanced compute, or accelerated-computing solutions.
  • Hands-on knowledge of modern AI infrastructure, including GPUs, CPUs, NPUs, accelerators, containers, networking, storage, and hybrid-cloud technologies.
  • Experience taking technical solutions from POC or pilot into production environments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex hardware, software, networking, application, and integration challenges.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise architecture, security, scalability, manageability, and production operational requirements.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical architectures and technical capabilities into business outcomes.
  • Strong customer-facing presentation, communication, and technical storytelling skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across sales, engineering, product management, services, partners, and customer organizations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AI inference and Edge AI frameworks.
  • Experience with NVIDIA and other accelerated-compute ecosystems.
  • Knowledge of computer vision, video analytics, generative AI, and AI inference workloads.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, containers, Linux, APIs, and modern application architectures.
  • Experience working with ISVs and technology ecosystem partners.
  • Experience supporting enterprise customers in retail, manufacturing, industrial, healthcare, public sector, or other Edge AI-intensive industries.
  • Experience developing production reference architectures and repeatable solution patterns.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with customers, account teams, Enterprise Architects, and business stakeholders to understand business challenges, requirements, workloads, infrastructure, data environments, and desired outcomes.
  • Translate customer requirements into Edge AI and Advanced Compute architectures and implementation strategies, connecting near-term opportunities to broader customer technology and AI strategies.
  • Identify opportunities to use AI inference, computer vision, intelligent edge workloads, advanced compute, and related technologies to improve customer operations or create new capabilities.
  • Design end-to-end Edge AI solutions spanning compute platforms, processors and accelerators, AI inference and model deployment, data processing, containers and orchestration, edge management, networking, security, device management, and cloud or hybrid-cloud integration.
  • Account for performance, scalability, manageability, security, reliability, cost, and operational requirements in solution architectures.
  • Own the technical execution of customer POCs, pilots, and validations; define objectives, success criteria, business outcomes, architecture, timelines, responsibilities, and exit criteria before execution.
  • Configure, integrate, test, troubleshoot, and optimize Edge AI solutions in customer and lab environments, and connect technical results to measurable customer outcomes.
  • Own the technical transition of successful POCs into production deployments, including productionization plans for architecture, infrastructure, security, integration, operational readiness, support, monitoring, deployment, and scale.
  • Identify barriers to production and develop mitigation plans; collaborate with HP Services, engineering, partners, ISVs, Enterprise Architecture, and customer teams to support implementation.
  • Maintain technical continuity throughout discovery, architecture, validation, POC, production, and scale.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in HP’s Edge AI and Advanced Compute Practice and maintain knowledge of emerging technologies, architectures, models, inference frameworks, accelerators, platforms, and use cases.
  • Create reusable architectures, technical patterns, reference designs, demonstrations, POC frameworks, and deployment methodologies; share customer-engagement lessons with HP product, engineering, services, and practice teams.
  • Partner with sales and technical account teams to identify, qualify, and advance Edge AI opportunities.
  • Provide technical leadership in customer workshops, architecture sessions, executive briefings, demonstrations, RFP responses, and solution presentations.
  • Develop solution bills of materials, architecture documentation, technical proposals, deployment assumptions, and supporting technical content.
  • Demonstrate how HP’s Edge AI and Advanced Compute capabilities address customer problems and deliver measurable outcomes.
