The Presales Solution Engineer – Edge AI is a customer-facing technical leader who turns Edge AI opportunities into measurable business outcomes and production-ready solutions. The role spans customer discovery, solution architecture, proof of concept (POC), validation, deployment, and production scale, bridging customer requirements with HP’s Edge AI capabilities, Advanced Compute platforms, partners, and delivery organizations. Success is measured by moving customers from concept to production and delivering measurable business value. The engineer partners with customers, account teams, Enterprise Architects, and business stakeholders to understand business challenges, technical requirements, workloads, infrastructure, data environments, and desired outcomes. They translate these needs into Edge AI and Advanced Compute architectures and implementation strategies, identifying opportunities involving AI inference, computer vision, intelligent edge workloads, and related technologies. The role designs end-to-end solutions incorporating compute platforms, CPUs, GPUs, NPUs and AI accelerators; AI inference and model deployment; data processing; containers and orchestration; edge management and observability; networking, security, device management; cloud and hybrid-cloud integration; and ISV and ecosystem technologies. Architectures must address performance, scalability, manageability, security, reliability, cost, and operational requirements. The engineer leads customer POCs, pilots, and validations, defining objectives, technical success criteria, business outcomes, architecture, timelines, responsibilities, and exit criteria. They configure, integrate, test, troubleshoot, and optimize solutions in customer and lab environments, connecting technical results to measurable customer outcomes. They also own the technical transition of successful POCs into production, developing plans for architecture, infrastructure, security, integration, operational readiness, support, monitoring, deployment, and scaling. They identify and mitigate barriers to production and collaborate with HP Services, engineering, partners, ISVs, Enterprise Architecture, and customer teams throughout the lifecycle. As a subject matter expert in HP’s Edge AI and Advanced Compute Practice, the engineer maintains knowledge of emerging technologies, architectures, AI models, inference frameworks, accelerators, compute platforms, and industry use cases. They develop reusable architectures, technical patterns, reference designs, demonstrations, POC frameworks, and deployment methodologies, and share engagement learnings with HP product, engineering, services, and practice teams. The engineer supports sales and business development by identifying, qualifying, and advancing opportunities; leading customer workshops, architecture sessions, executive briefings, demonstrations, RFP responses, and presentations; and preparing bills of materials, architecture documentation, technical proposals, deployment assumptions, and other technical content. The role requires staying technically engaged beyond demonstrations and POCs until solutions operate successfully in production. The role is listed as full-time, with 50% travel. The stated US on-target earnings range is $192,550 to $284,000 annually, with an 80% salary and 20% incentive mix. Additional bonus and/or equity opportunities apply to candidates in the United States. Compensation varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
