This position is responsible for administering and managing the state and federal Preparedness Grant Programs for IEMA-OHS. Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in business or public administration.
  • Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization.
  • Requires a criminal history check through the Illinois State Police.
  • Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history.
  • Requires the ability to use state issued equipment, such as cell phone, laptop, etc.
  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
  • Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefers three (3) years of professional experience administering federal grants.
  • Prefers three (3) years of professional experience administering and overseeing federal pass-through grant programs, including grant budgeting, financial tracking, compliance monitoring, interpretation of federal requirements, and preparation and submission of federal grant reports.
  • Prefers three (3) years of professional experience working with Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grant requirements, and investment justification writing and reporting.
  • Prefers three (3) years of professional experience supervising staff.
  • Prefers three (3) years of experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite and or similar computer systems, software, and templates.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the Preparedness Grant Programs Section Manager for Illinois Emergency Management Agency-Office of Homeland Security (IEMA-OHS).
  • Serves as a full line supervisor.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains the various programs utilized by the Preparedness Grant Programs Section.
  • Manages federal and state grant program requirements to ensure the timely submission of quarterly, semi-annual, and annual activity and performance reports for IEMA-OHS.
  • Plans and confers with agency management for the agency’s participation in external and internal programmatic reviews of federal and state grant program awards.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
