About The Position

GMC Prep School is seeking to hire a paraprofessional to work in a Kindergarten classroom for the 2026-27 School Year. The person selected for this position will assist, support, and work closely with teachers, administrators, and other school personnel in providing a quality program for students. He/she will routinely interact with students, parents, guests, and a wide range of school personnel so must be high-energy, friendly, and professional. This is a 10-month position that supports the school year calendar with 190 working days. The work day will be 7am until 3:30pm or 7:15am until 3:45pm with a 30-minute lunch break provided.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED equivalent
  • Valid Georgia Paraprofessional Certificate – held currently or obtained no later than July 15,2026
  • Be able to work well with adults and students, and possess good communication skills.
  • Be well organized and have good time management skills.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Conducts small group or individual classroom activities based on lesson plans developed by the teacher.
  • Works with individual and/or small groups of students to provide intervention or enrichment activities assigned by the teacher.
  • Assists the teacher in implementing special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based the needs of individual students
  • Helps with all aspects of the daily routine and clerical tasks - including distributing and collecting supplies, keeping attendance records, monitoring lists, etc
  • Assists with supervision of students in classroom, hall, cafeteria, exploratory classes, recess, and all other times of school day as needed.
  • Follows direction of the supervising teacher in offering one-on-one assistance to students who need extra help.
  • Assists with student assessment and collecting data on student progress. Assists with routine record keeping.
  • Assists with the preparation of materials for instruction (including the copying/duplicating of materials, construction of displays/bulletin boards, learning centers and manipulatives).
  • Locates, operates, and returns needed equipment.
  • Accompanies class on field trips and assists teacher as assigned.
  • Assists with school-wide supervision – morning and afternoon car rider duties, cafeteria duty, etc.
  • Performs other duties as requested by the principal or other appropriate supervisor.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all school information concerning students, staff and school business.
  • Assists with classroom housekeeping
  • Performs other such duties as may be required by the Principal or designated School Administrator.
