Located 45 minutes from the Nation’s Capital and nestled in a history-rich region of Southern Maryland, the College of Southern Maryland (CSM) has twice been recognized by the Aspen Institute as one of the top 150 community colleges in the nation. With more than 100 academic programs, CSM is known for its student-centered focus, innovation, and responsiveness to our regional workforce and community. The faculty member is responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities to promote student-centered learning. The faculty member is responsible for performing assigned duties during the day, evening, or weekend on the campus(es) or center to which the faculty member is assigned. At a minimum, the related activities include instruction, holding office hours, serving on various committees, and participating in local, state, regional, and national professional activities and organizations. A faculty member performs all other duties as directed by the Department Chair, Dean, Provost and Vice President for Division of Learning, or the President or designee. The faculty member will teach 30 credits per academic year. The faculty member will schedule, publish, and hold 5 office hours per week during the academic year, including fall and spring semesters. The faculty member will participate in professional development opportunities and perform professional service hours based on faculty placement in rank, as set forth in the Faculty Handbook. Primary areas of teaching responsibility include: Nursing theory, Lab, Simulation, and Clinical. In addition to the above responsibilities, this faculty member may coordinate various aspects of the College of Southern Maryland’s nursing courses, including such activities as mentoring, observing, and evaluating adjunct faculty, and fielding student feedback with regard to division course and program questions and concerns. Other responsibilities may include acting as a liaison to various clinical facilities, coordination of clinical experiences, management of student background and health data, and contributions to student learning outcomes assessment processes. The faculty member is responsible to the Department Chair and Dean in the School in which he/she teaches and to the Provost and Vice President for Division of Learning.
