About The Position

Wor-Wic Community College is seeking a full-time, 10-month faculty member to teach economics and finance courses. This position is part of the WWCCFA bargaining unit and offers excellent fringe benefits. The role involves teaching macroeconomics, microeconomics, finance, and other business program courses. Key responsibilities include curriculum development and review, contributing to departmental initiatives and the college's mission, and collaborating with colleagues to enhance student success. The starting salary varies based on faculty rank, ranging from $52,500 to $85,100. There may be opportunities to teach additional classes on separate contracts.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in economics, finance, business or other relevant field with at least 12 graduate credits in economics or finance.
  • Applicants currently pursuing a graduate degree and have completed at least 12 graduate credits in economics or finance may also be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Teach macroeconomics, microeconomics, finance, and other business program courses.
  • Participate in the preparation and review of curriculum.
  • Make meaningful contributions to departmental initiatives and the broader mission of the college.
  • Collaborate with departmental colleagues to enhance student success.
  • Create and manage an environment conducive to student learning.
  • Prepare and use course syllabi.
  • Use approved technology in teaching.
  • Meet all scheduled learning experiences, including the final examination.
  • Maintain student records.
  • Post and maintain scheduled office hours.
  • Update course syllabi and provide copies of tests or assignments when requested.
  • Submit attendance rosters, midterm grades, and final grades within the established timeframe.
  • Contribute to the implementation of the annual course and programmatic assessment process and comprehensive program reviews.
  • Develop/edit course objectives, means of assessment, and benchmarks.
  • Collect, analyze, and report assessment data.
  • Create and report progress on action plans for improvement.
  • Support course coordinators by assisting with textbook recommendations and contributing to the annual course assessment process.
  • Submit alerts for student performance impacting course completion in the designated student alert software.
  • Engage in professional development activities (at least three hours per academic/fiscal year).
  • Maintain a record of professional development activities and share information with peers and the College.
  • Advance College initiatives, support its mission and programmatic accreditation.
  • Improve the overall College experience.
  • Influence or impact the College and/or student performance.
  • Elevate the institution and implement innovation or high-quality work.
  • Work collaboratively with the Department Head or supervisor(s) to determine departmental and institutional service participation.
  • Consult, assist, and support the academic advising center.
  • Assist the department head with the requisition of materials, supplies, textbooks, and equipment.
  • Assist with registration procedures.
  • Attend departmental meetings and serve on appropriate departmental committees.
  • Participate in on-site and off-site promotional/recruiting activities.
  • Participate in program and curriculum development and coordination.
  • Contribute to program review and work with professionals in the faculty member’s field of study and program advisory committee.
  • Contribute to annual, interim/midcycle, and five-year comprehensive program review reports and reaccreditation self-studies.
  • Attend institutional meetings called by the dean, vice president for academic affairs, or president.
  • Attend in-service sessions.
  • Serve on institutional committees.
  • Participate in peer evaluation of design skills.
  • Attend graduation ceremonies.
  • Participate in other institutional service activities assigned by the College’s Executive Leadership team.
