About The Position

Join our Commissary team as an Prep Cook and play a key role in preparing fresh, high-quality meals in our Bushwick, Brooklyn kitchen. Requirements

• Comfortable with physical work, lifting, pulling, carrying 50+ lbs, and climbing ladders
• Able to stand, walk, bend, and stay active throughout the shift
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to follow a daily task list
• Able to read, write, and do basic math
• Available consistently to be on time for early morning shifts in Bushwick, Brooklyn
• Basic knowledge of knife skills and kitchen equipment
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen

Nice To Haves

• English/Spanish preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients including washing, peeling, chopping, slicing, and portioning food items according to recipes and chef direction
• Assist with preparation of stocks, sauces, dressings, marinades, and other basic components
• Measure ingredients accurately to meet recipe and production standards
• Maintain clean and organized prep stations, storage areas, and kitchen equipment
• Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations
• Label, date, and properly store all food items in accordance with food safety guidelines
• Assist with inventory rotation using FIFO standards
• Support cooks and chefs during high volume periods as needed
• Report equipment issues, food waste, or shortages to kitchen leadership
• Properly operate and care for kitchen tools, knives, and equipment
• Comply with all Proper Food policies, procedures, and safety standards
