About The Position

Orchard Ridge Assisted Living, a nonprofit with over 100 years of experience in senior care and recognized with the Gold Excellence of Care award, is seeking a Prep Cook. The team works cooperatively to ensure all resident needs are met. This role involves assisting with meal preparations, including chopping, dicing, and slicing ingredients for cooks, preparing various dishes like salads, side dishes, desserts, and soups, and maintaining a clean prep area. The position requires flexibility to step into any role, a thorough understanding of Health Department regulations and food handling (training provided), and the ability to lift 50 pounds and remain on your feet for extended periods. A love for seniors is essential.

Requirements

  • Must have Food Handlers Certificate or acquire one within the first year of employment
  • Previous prep experience
  • Ability to remain calm under stressful situations
  • Effective and clear communications with residents, resident families and staff
  • Must be able to pass criminal and drug background tests as required by Bureau of Licensing and corporate policies
  • Must be able to work respectfully and compassionately with older adults
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be able to be on your feet for long periods of time
  • Have a love for seniors

Nice To Haves

  • Flexibility a plus! If extra help is needed then Extra $2 an hour on Saturday & Sunday

Responsibilities

  • Assist with meal preparations to include but are not limited to the following: Chop, dice, slice, prep for cooks needs
  • Prepare salads, side dishes, deserts, soups, and alternate lunch salad plates
  • Clean the prep area
  • Wash pots, pans, and dishes
  • Have a good understanding of portion control
  • Must be flexible and able to step into any position
  • Have a complete understanding of the Health Department regulations and food handling (will train)
  • Other duties as assigned
