About The Position

Valley Manor Care Center is hiring a part-time Prep Cook in Montrose, Colorado. The Prep Cook provides quality food service in accordance with State and Federal regulations and meets residents’ nutritional and individual needs. The role includes food preparation, meal service, and cleaning, as well as preparing snacks, checking prepared food quality, and assisting with inventory. Work is scheduled Thursday through Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., for 18 hours per week. The listed pay range is $18.00–$20.00 per hour.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years old.
Have general knowledge of quantity food preparation and portioned serving.
Be friendly and enjoy working with elderly people.
Be able to understand and follow procedures, recipe directions, diet orders, and work assignments.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED (the posting labels this both required and preferred).
At least one year of food service experience in a healthcare dietary setting.

Responsibilities

Provide quality food service in accordance with State and Federal regulations and residents’ nutritional and individual needs.
Complete assigned food preparation, meal serving, and cleaning duties according to proper procedures, using dietary equipment and supplies.
Prepare nutritional snacks for residents as assigned.
Taste and smell prepared food to determine its quality and palatability.
Assist with the department inventory program.
Perform other duties or special assignments as directed by the Cook, Assistant Food and Nutrition Services Manager, or Director of Food and Nutrition Services.
