About The Position

The Prep Cook works in Avanti Senior Living’s culinary department, preparing food that meets or exceeds the organization’s hospitality and service standards. The role supports daily kitchen activities and meal service while serving residents with commitment, respect, compassion, dedication, teamwork, and quality.

Requirements

Willingness to work with older adults in a senior living environment.
Ability to prepare therapeutic or modified diets.
Ability to prepare food in a senior housing environment that meets or exceeds hospitality and service standards.
Availability to work on holidays and for pre-planned special events.
Good knife skills and familiarity with cooking methods.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work with staff and external constituents.

Nice To Haves

At least one year of experience as a cook preparing a full line of menu items.

Responsibilities

Assist the chef with daily activities.
Assist with meal-service preparation.
Wash residents’ dishes during meal service.
Help prepare and stock the room-service cart and deliver room-service trays as needed.
Assist in preparing salads, soups, and desserts.
Maintain or exceed standards for appearance, cleanliness, hygiene, and health.
Follow safety and loss-prevention procedures.
Attend required in-service sessions.
Follow local, state, and federal food-handling policies.
Assist with documenting temperature logs, taste-panel forms, and cleaning schedules.
Promote Avanti Senior Living’s vision, values, and mission.
Perform other duties as assigned or necessary in an organization with overlapping roles and responsibilities.
