About The Position

The Prep Cook assists with preparing and presenting meals and snacks in accordance with company recipes and production guides. The role supports the kitchen team in providing residents with satisfying food and dining programs while maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen. The Prep Cook also assists with special events, banquets, and theme meals, and may perform other duties as needed or assigned.

The wage range is $18.00–$21.60 per hour, dependent on prior work history and experience.

Requirements

• Effectively read, write, and communicate in English with residents and other employees.
• Food handler permit as required by applicable provincial, local, or state law and/or company standards.
• ServSafe certification is required.
• Ability to follow and read recipes and production guides.
• Knowledge of food handling, preparation, cooking, and service.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and presentation of meals and snacks in accordance with company recipes and production guides.
• Provide a high level of customer service.
• Work closely with the Executive Chef and/or Sous Chef to keep residents satisfied with food and dining programs.
• Maintain the kitchen in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition and follow assigned cleaning schedules.
• Ensure food is received, stored, and prepared according to company standards.
• Keep kitchen floors clean by sweeping and mopping, and empty trash.
• Assist with transportation and storage of food and supplies.
• Assist cooks as requested.
• Adhere to standard food safety practices.
• Assist with preparing and executing special events, banquets, and theme meals.
• Operate and maintain kitchen equipment in a clean and sanitary manner.
• Attend pre-meal stand-up in the kitchen prior to meal service.
• Perform other duties as needed and/or assigned.
