About The Position

The Prep Cook/Line Cook reports directly to the School Chef. This part-time position provides services supporting the school Hot Lunch program. This part-time position is responsible for the preparation and service of lunch daily for students, faculty, and staff.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in institutional or restaurant food preparation.
  • Solid Knife skills.
  • Prepare food in large quantities.
  • Work/collaborate with others in a team environment.
  • Communicate effectively with all students, faculty/staff, volunteers, and food service personnel.
  • Obtain a valid Food Handler's permit on file within 30 days of starting employment.
  • Complete Safe Environment Training within 90 days of starting employment.

Responsibilities

  • Supports preparation of food items needed for service.
  • Labels, dates and rotates foods as necessary.
  • Helps put away and rotate incoming orders.
  • Stocks serving line for service, including trays, silverware, ladles, tongs, spatulas, and towels.
  • Assists in deciding placement of food on the lunch tray.
  • Adheres to portion sizes/control as directed by Chef during service.
  • Assists Sous Chef and Chef with assigning roles for service sequences on the line.
  • Breaks down the line.
  • Cleans and sanitizes counters, cutting boards, shelves, sinks on and around the line and prep area.
  • Keeps refrigerators organized, clean, and sanitized (3 refrigerators and 1 freezer).
  • Sweeps the kitchen, storerooms, hallways, and doorway.
