About The Position

Join AmTrust Insurance’s Premium Audit Team! The Premium Audit Dispute Analyst is responsible for independently reviewing, analyzing, and resolving moderate to complex premium audit disputes across Workers’ Compensation and General Liability policies. This role exercises professional judgment and advanced analytical skills to interpret audit outcomes, investigate discrepancies, and ensure accurate premium determination in alignment with policy language, regulatory requirements, and corporate standards. The analyst serves as a key decision-maker within the dispute resolution process, managing work with a moderate degree of autonomy while ensuring fairness, accuracy, and consistency. The role requires evaluating nuanced underwriting and audit scenarios, identifying root-cause issues, and recommending appropriate corrections or process improvements. This position partners closely with underwriters, auditors, regional premium audit teams, billing, and external stakeholders to drive timely, well-supported dispute outcomes. The analyst contributes to operational excellence by promoting transparency, strengthening cross-functional communication, and supporting the continuous improvement of the overall premium audit experience.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in premium audit, audit review, billing support, or other related insurance operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or other related fields (or equivalent work experience).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain findings clearly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; with intermediate Excel skills required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Progress toward or interest in the Associates in Premium Audit (APA) designation.
  • Familiarity with Workers’ Compensation and General Liability audit processes.

Responsibilities

  • Exercise independent judgment in evaluating complex audit reports, financial records, and classification methodologies to ensure accurate premium determination.
  • Interpret policy language, classification standards, and regulatory frameworks (NCCI, PAAS, state-specific rules) to validate audit outcomes.
  • Identify and diagnose errors, discrepancies, or systemic issues, recommending action items or process adjustments as needed.
  • Lead the end-to-end investigation of moderate to high-complexity audit disputes submitted by insureds, brokers, and internal partners.
  • Apply advanced analytical reasoning and established dispute resolution protocols to determine equitable and compliant outcomes.
  • Communicate findings, rationale, and decisions with a high degree of clarity, professionalism, and subject-matter authority.
  • Document resolution decisions comprehensively, ensuring accuracy, auditability, and alignment with internal standards.
  • Ensure dispute handling and audit validations adhere to all regulatory, classification, and internal compliance requirements.
  • Maintain organized and defensible documentation supporting dispute conclusions and audit determinations.
  • Escalate issues outside defined thresholds while providing informed recommendations to guide leadership decisions.
  • Serve as a subject-matter resource for underwriting, billing, audit operations, and other stakeholders on audit and classification matters.
  • Participate in calibration, quality review, and case-roundtable discussions to promote consistent interpretation of rules and procedures.
  • Support vendor governance by identifying emerging patterns, recurring dispute themes, and opportunities for corrective action.
  • Evaluate dispute handling workflows, system utilization, and documentation practices to recommend efficiency and quality enhancements.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of procedures, job aids, and reference materials used across Premium Audit.
  • Maintain current expertise in manual rules, audit methodologies, and foundational underwriting concepts influencing premium accuracy.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental goals and strategic initiatives.
