About The Position

Healthiest Babies Possible (HBP) is seeking dedicated individuals to provide compassionate support and education on nutrition, maternal wellness, and infant care. This role involves developing strong rapport with clients, assessing their needs, providing educational resources and referrals, distributing food supplement vouchers and prenatal vitamin supplements, and coordinating care with other professionals. The position also includes facilitating HBP groups, managing referrals, maintaining client files, attending staff and community meetings, and collaborating with the Program Manager on caseloads and service plans. The role also involves making recommendations for program development and participating in program evaluations.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in a related human or social service field, supplemented by at least one year of recent relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Valid Level 1 First Aid/CPR Certificate.
  • Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License.
  • Clean Driver’s Abstract.
  • Reliable access to a personal vehicle.
  • Non-judgmental, respectful, and supportive approach, fostering positive client relationships.
  • Effective communication—both verbal and written—is crucial, including proficient note-taking aligned with accreditation and agency guidelines.
  • Adept at working independently and collaboratively.
  • Handling sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Demonstrating cultural sensitivity.
  • Undergo a Police Information Check (PIC).
  • Undergo a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong foundation in health knowledge in relation to pregnancy, birth, and infants is an asset.
  • Coaching, counseling, and group facilitation skills.
  • Knowledge of nutrition, perinatal care, and infant development.

Responsibilities

  • Developing strong rapport and nurturing relationships with clients by explaining program services and understanding their goals and needs.
  • Conducting thorough interviews to assess clients' health, lifestyle, and educational needs.
  • Provide educational resources, support, and referrals to community agencies.
  • Distribute food supplement vouchers and prenatal vitamin supplements as necessary through various methods including home visits, office visits, and phone calls.
  • Consulting with other professionals in the community (with client consent) to coordinate comprehensive client care.
  • Assisting in facilitating (HBP) groups to enhance community support and education.
  • Managing new referrals, screen potential clients for program suitability, and maintain accurate and confidential client files following program and policy guidelines.
  • Attending regular staff meetings and participate in community meetings as directed by the Program Manager.
  • Collaborate with the Program Manager on client caseloads, status updates, and service plans.
  • Making recommendations for program development and improvement.
  • Participate in program evaluations to ensure effectiveness and quality of services provided.
