The Preconstruction Manager leads the planning, coordination, and execution of preconstruction activities for mechanical construction projects. Responsibilities include managing estimating efforts, conceptual budgeting, proposal development, design-build collaboration, value engineering, procurement strategy, and transitioning projects to operations. The role partners with owners, architects, engineers, operations teams, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure projects are accurately scoped, competitively priced, and ready for successful execution. It also provides leadership and mentorship to preconstruction engineers, estimators, and other team members while promoting consistency, innovation, risk management, and continuous improvement. The role directs the preparation and review of conceptual, budgetary, GMP, negotiated, design-build, and hard-bid estimates. It supports business development and customer pursuits, builds industry relationships, and identifies project opportunities and market trends. The position requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, 7–10 years of progressive relevant experience, and at least 3 years of leadership or team management experience. The employee works for a single-source provider of mechanical and plumbing systems whose integrated in-house production model uses coordinated BIM models to produce fabrication documentation. The role combines extended periods of computer work with travel to project and field locations as needed. Field visits may involve outdoor and construction-site conditions, including weather, dust, noise, mechanical and electrical equipment, and other hazards.
