About The Position

As a Preconstruction Manager at Choate Construction, you play a critical role in setting projects up for success by leading the preconstruction phase with clarity, discipline, and collaboration. This role is designed for construction professionals with 6–10 years of overall construction experience, including approximately three years of hands‑on estimating experience, who are ready to take ownership of increasingly complex pursuits. You are responsible for the daily management, coordination, and successful execution of preconstruction efforts- overseeing estimating, bidding, scheduling, and contracting activities to achieve accurate, competitive, and achievable cost objectives. Partnering closely with the Director of Preconstruction and Project Management teams, you serve as a key bridge between early‑stage planning and execution, helping align client expectations, project strategy, and operational realities to position Choate Construction for successful project delivery.

Requirements

  • 6–10 years of overall construction experience
  • Approximately three years of hands‑on estimating experience
  • Ability to build and sustain trusted relationships with clients, designers, and trade partners.
  • Clear and credible communication skills.
  • Disciplined approach to risk management.
  • Ability to develop detailed estimates, cost models, and bid strategies.
  • Ability to proactively identify new opportunities.
  • Keeping current with construction trends.

  • Developing detailed estimates, cost models, and bid strategies that align project objectives with operational realities.
  • Proactively identifying new opportunities, contributing to pursuits, presentations, and business development efforts.
  • Staying engaged in the industry and invested in people - keeping current with construction trends while mentoring team members and supporting long‑term career growth within the company.
