The Preconstruction Intern program offers a hands-on, field-centric work experience with mentorship, professional development, and networking opportunities within the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry. Interns will participate in site-based meetings, company events, and summer outings, with an individualized performance review at the program's conclusion. Housing is provided for out-of-state interns and co-ops, including rent and utilities.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree relevant to preconstruction or construction management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Eagerness to learn and contribute in a fast-paced environment.
Nice To Haves
- Previous internship experience in construction or a related field.
- Familiarity with estimating software or BIM tools (e.g., Revit).
- Knowledge of construction methods and materials.
Responsibilities
- Support the preconstruction team through all phases of estimating and project planning
- Prepare quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, bid analyses, and value engineering recommendations
- Assist with subcontractor solicitation, bid review, negotiations, and subcontract administration
- Maintain historical cost, unit pricing, and subcontractor databases
- Develop working knowledge of market costs, general conditions, and preliminary scheduling
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and subcontractors
- Utilize Revit models and project documentation to support estimating efforts
