Preconstruction Director

Solid Rock Recruiting•Charlotte, NC

About The Position

An established commercial specialty contractor is seeking a construction professional to drive strategic growth, develop relationships with major general contractors, and lead preconstruction efforts in the Charlotte market. This is not a traditional estimating position or solely a business development role. The role calls for someone who understands construction, can position the company to win major projects, and has the relationships and credibility to help secure opportunities. The company may align the title and responsibilities with the selected candidate’s experience and capabilities. The Director will lead strategic preconstruction and growth initiatives throughout Charlotte, develop and strengthen relationships with regional and national general contractors, and identify, pursue, and help secure large commercial construction opportunities. The position engages general contractors early in design, including schematic design and design development, and coordinates preconstruction efforts to help turn opportunities into awarded projects. The role also supports expansion into data centers, advanced manufacturing, healthcare, and sports and entertainment facilities, working directly with executive leadership on market strategy and high-value opportunities.

  • Ability to engage general contractors at conceptual and early design stages.
  • Experience with large commercial projects, ideally including data centers, manufacturing, healthcare, or other complex construction environments.
