About The Position

United Launch Alliance is hiring a Precision Measurement Support 2 employee to perform precision measurement and inspection work on large structural flight hardware and tooling. The position involves using laser trackers, laser scanners, and Faro Arms; reviewing engineering drawings and related documents for soundness, efficiency, and design for manufacturing; and reviewing and approving tooling designs. Duties also include dimensional inspection and assembly, tooling inspection and control, and machine qualification support. The role applies geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) to support product acceptance and verifies drawing-to-model correspondence and compliance with design and drafting standards. The employee coordinates drawing requirements with design teams, participates in or leads concurrent engineering activities focused on manufacturability, and provides fabrication, assembly, and installation input using technically derived data. The role also supports design proposals, coordinates with affected organizations, improves products and manufacturing operations through procedural controls, and provides troubleshooting and technical assistance for corrective action. This position supports weekday night shifts, primarily Sunday through Wednesday, with additional time during the week as needed. Training takes place Monday through Friday for several months until the employee can conduct operations individually. Overtime is available after training is complete. The role is based at ULA in Decatur, with relocation potentially available and no or infrequent travel.
