Precision Inspector (Machining)
About The Position

This role involves completing surface plate work/inspection of machined aerospace parts, inspecting supplied product according to applicable drawing and/or work order specifications to verify conformity to all design requirements. The Precision Inspector will perform complex inspections following standardized methods, including in-process inspection, and visual and/or dimensional inspection of precision machined parts. The position requires proactive interaction with production to improve products and reduce defects, and communication to help resolve quality-related issues. Responsibilities also include documenting non-conformances, supporting quality management system policies and procedure documentation, assessing compliance to company and industry standards, and initiating/leading continual improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives. The role operates in a cross-functional environment utilizing PC-DMIS programming skills for DCC CMMs, and involves creating, maintaining, and verifying CMM programs for manufactured and supplied parts. Documentation review and verification of certifications, specifications, and conformance to design and specification requirements are also key aspects of the job.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 2+ years of quality inspection experience
Nice To Haves
- Understanding of ISO 9001/AS9100 quality management systems
- Solid computer skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
- Ability to review drawings and identify improper callouts/datum structures, according to ASME Y14.5
- Thorough understanding of all layout inspection tools (surface plate, height gage, indicators, calipers, micrometers, gage blocks, thread gages, etc.)
- DCC (direct computer controlled) CMM with PC-DMIS software experience
- 1+ years of experience with blueprint reading, shop math or GD&T
- Experience working in a machine shop
Responsibilities

- Perform documentation review and verification of certifications, specifications, and conformance to design and specification requirements
