About The Position

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for a Precision Electromechanical Assembler 3 (2nd shift) to join their team in Rolling Meadows, IL. The selected candidate will be responsible for the execution and support of all mechanical activities related to the production of optical-mechanical assemblies. This includes tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations on opto-mechanical, electro-optical, and electronic and/or mechanical assemblies. The role involves working from diagrams and drawings, making initial layouts, and using hand and/or power tools. The assembler will perform continuity checks on work in process and completed assemblies and may disassemble, modify, rework, reassemble, and test experimental or prototype assemblies and subassemblies according to engineering specifications.

Requirements

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) and a minimum of 4 years of mechanical assembly work experience or an Associate's degree with 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Hands on experience with various tooling and equipment.
  • Experience following work instructions and reading/interpreting drawings.
  • Experience with building or working with wire harnesses and/or cable assemblies.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with precision mechanical assemblies and tight tolerance work.
  • Soldering, crimping, and connector installation experience.
  • Troubleshooting experience with new hardware design.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical assembly, integration, and modification of complex systems and components such as LITENING Targeting Pods.
  • Read and interpret drawings, schematics, work instructions, and assembly documentation.
  • Use a wide range of precision hand tools, torque tools, measuring equipment and mechanical test equipment.
  • Perform mechanical fit-up, alignment, and hardware installation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
