About The Position

This role involves contacting insurance companies to verify benefits and authorization requirements for orthotic and prosthetic devices. The specialist will communicate benefit information to clinicians, keep them updated on patient coverage, and notify patients of their insurance coverage for prescribed items. Responsibilities also include scheduling patient appointments, collecting deposits, verifying insurance, and assisting with check-in and check-out duties. The role requires reviewing and preparing patient charts to ensure all necessary documentation is present before product delivery, coordinating patient care for timely scheduling and follow-ups, and communicating effectively with patients, physicians, and staff. Additionally, the specialist will verify inventory levels before patient appointments.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience in medical insurance.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, manage time efficiently, and work under pressure.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • A team player with a positive attitude and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong initiative and self-discipline.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in precertification and/or orthotics and prosthetics.
  • Knowledge of SMX or similar EMR software preferred.
