About The Position

This role involves verifying insurance benefits and authorization requirements for orthotic and prosthetic devices, communicating this information to clinicians and patients, and managing patient appointments and documentation. The position also requires assisting with patient care coordination, ensuring inventory levels are maintained, and communicating effectively with all stakeholders.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous experience in medical insurance.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks, manage time efficiently, and work under pressure.
• Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
• A team player with a positive attitude and the ability to work independently.
• Strong initiative and self-discipline.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience in precertification and/or orthotics and prosthetics.
• Knowledge of SMX or similar EMR software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contact insurance companies to verify benefits and authorization requirements for orthotic and prosthetic devices.
• Communicate benefit information to clinicians and ensure they are up to date on patient coverage.
• Assist with phone calls and messages, as well as notify patients of their insurance coverage for prescribed items.
• Schedule patient appointments, collect deposits, verify insurance, and assist with check-in and check-out duties.
• Review and prepare patient charts, ensuring all required documentation is present prior to delivery of products.
• Assist with the coordination of patient care, ensuring timely scheduling and appropriate follow-ups.
• Communicate effectively with patients, TOC physicians, and staff regarding all aspects of patient care.
• Ensure that inventory levels are verified before patient appointments.
