About The Position

Under the supervision of the Community Based Program Prevocational Coordinator, the Prevoc. DSP is responsible for providing service coordination to individuals who are participating in the Prevocational program. Organize, implement and train the participants with workshops to provide job and living skills.

Requirements

  • High school diploma.
  • Current NY State driver’s license.
  • Experience working with community human service providers and working with Developmentally Disabled population.
  • Knowledge of community human service providers.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.
  • A combination of training and experience other than the specified, if judged to be adequate for the job, may be accepted by the President and CEO

Responsibilities

  • Provides on-going service to individuals in a caseload up to 8.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individuals vocational goals.
  • Attend formal and informal training.
  • Provides advocacy according to the participants’ needs.
  • Provide supervision for individuals.
  • Maintains up-to-date program notes and outcome notes for participants assigned daily as required by agency and OPWDD.
  • As needed, transports individual to volunteer activities.
  • Transports individuals back and forth to program daily.
  • Maintain agency vehicles to ensure safety. Submits all gas receipts to Coordinator.
  • Assists consumers in and out of the van during activities.
  • Ensuring that fire safety needs are met, including participation in quarterly fire drills or as needed.
  • Ensures the safety of individuals at always met.
  • Attend mandatory training and/or meetings as scheduled.
  • Reports and complete notables as necessary.
  • Maintains up to date all training necessary, first aid and CPR certifications.
  • Assist participants with El Camino Café Day to day activities, such as prepping for sandwiches, drinks and cleaning of the cafe.
  • Assist individuals with volunteer opportunities to develop regular work and soft skills.
  • All other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
