About The Position

Pre-Sales Engineers are crucial to Duvo's success, acting as the technical point person from the initial conversation to the final deal. They demonstrate the capabilities of AI within a customer's operations, leading discovery, shaping solutions, demoing the platform, scoping pilot projects, and maintaining technical credibility throughout the sales cycle. While not responsible for the production build, they design the sold solution, defend it technically, and ensure a smooth handover to the Field Deployment Engineer (FDE). This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy being the technical expert in a sales process focused on delivering tangible outcomes rather than just features.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in technical, customer-facing roles with experience shaping and winning deals.
  • Hands-on experience with AI and agentic systems in customer environments.
  • Experience in pre-sales, sales engineering, or solutions engineering at an AI-first or automation company.
  • Experience as a forward-deployed or applied AI engineer with strong commercial instincts.
  • Experience in technical consulting for AI or automation deals where the technical win was owned.
  • Experience in product or operations roles pitching and shipping AI-powered solutions to enterprise buyers.
  • Strong systems thinking ability to analyze customer stacks and identify leverage points.
  • Comfort with code-adjacent tasks: SQL, Python or JS scripting, APIs, JSON, webhooks, and light data work.
  • Strong commercial instinct: ability to size value, defend pricing, and qualify ruthlessly.
  • Sharp communication and presentation skills; ability to lead and adapt to different audiences (operators, technologists, executives).
  • Fluent English.
  • Ability to walk into a customer's operation, run sharp discovery, design a solution that holds up under scrutiny, and turn AI into deals that close and deliver.

Nice To Haves

  • Retail, e-commerce, or CPG background.
  • Fluency in any operational domain (supply chain, procurement, category management, merchandising, finance ops, supplier management, warehousing).
  • Familiarity with ERPs and enterprise stacks.
  • German or other European languages.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Account Executives (AEs) throughout the sales cycle, leading technical conversations from the first call to closing.
  • Conduct discovery sessions with operational and technical stakeholders to quickly understand real-world workflows.
  • Map customer workflows onto the Duvo platform, identifying areas where agents can provide the most leverage.
  • Quantify value by building defensible business cases tied to key performance indicators (KPIs) tracked by the customer's executive team.
  • Design pilot scope, defining what will be built, what constitutes success, and how it will be measured.
  • Demonstrate Duvo using real customer scenarios, not generic examples.
  • Develop Proofs of Concept (POCs) and prototypes to provide evidence before a deal is finalized.
  • Manage technical responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), security questionnaires, and architecture deep-dives.
  • Push back on unrealistic scope to protect the deal and the delivery team from unworkable setups.
  • Ensure a clean handover to FDEs, so that what is sold is accurately built.
  • Provide feedback from the field to Product, Marketing, and Sales regarding what resonates, what doesn't, and what is missing.
