About The Position

Fair Haven Community Health Care (FHCHC) is seeking a Pre-Registration Specialist to provide timely, detailed, and accurate full patient registration prior to patient visits, either via telephone or in person, to ensure an exceptional patient experience. This role requires a patient-focused approach towards operational excellence and functioning as an integral part of the healthcare team. FHCHC has been a community health center for over 54 years, serving multiple generations across 21 locations and is committed to delivering high-quality, affordable medical and dental care to everyone, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED with experience in medical billing.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work as a member of the team to serve patients.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • One year of experience demonstrating customer service (highly preferred).
  • Must be willing to work in various locations and various shifts.
  • Manual dexterity to operate keyboards, telephones, and other business equipment.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to use a headset.

Responsibilities

  • Perform timely, detailed, accurate full patient registration.
  • Maintain the integrity of demographic information for patients, insured parties, guarantors, and insurance companies.
  • Obtain and verify patient demographic and guarantor information prior to visits to ensure accuracy for billing purposes.
  • Obtain and verify patient insurance information, including eligibility checks via phone, website, or electronic means.
  • Obtain and verify patient information required for reporting purposes prior to visits.
  • Work queues/listings to identify patients requiring pre-registration 1-7 days prior to their appointment.
  • Contact patients via telephone to obtain necessary information.
  • Answer all incoming phone calls in a timely manner, demonstrating good customer service.
  • Obtain benefits information to aid in payment collections at the time of service.
  • Provide accurate information to patients regarding insurance requirements.
  • Complete necessary questionnaires for upcoming appointments.
  • Ensure proper steps are taken to remove patients from pre-registration status and communicate with Patient Access regarding check-in process needs.
  • Provide information to patients regarding FHCHC services and directions to various locations.
  • Maintain and adhere to HIPAA privacy policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and provide coverage for departments under the operations portfolio (e.g., front desk) as necessary, including during extended leaves.
