About The Position

Cromwell Public Schools is seeking a PreK-12 Literacy Curriculum Supervisor to provide system-wide leadership in the development, coordination, and implementation of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and the overall program. This position reports to the Director of Curriculum and Instruction.

Requirements

  • Five years’ experience as a professional educator, with evidence of a high level of proficiency in teaching, a thorough knowledge of instructional strategies, child development, curriculum, and classroom management required.
  • Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills to lead teachers, parents, and members of the school community.
  • Ability to pass the Teacher Evaluation and Support System assessment.
  • Ability to supervise, support and evaluate teachers.
  • Ability to bring research-based insight to curriculum development in order to improve student achievement.
  • Knowledge of best practice in instruction and assessment.
  • Experience with special populations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Language Arts/Social Studies curriculum, instruction and assessment.
  • Ability to integrate instructional technology resources into district curriculum.
  • Ability to read, interpret and summarize assessment results including standardized tests.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before administrators, staff, parents and students.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of current educational research and theory.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
  • Ability to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.
  • Intermediate Administration Certification (092) required.

  • Administrative experience in curriculum/instruction preferred

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with building principals to assess curricular needs and develop site-based plans for improvement of instruction and increased student achievement.
  • Model, coach, and collaborate on the use of differentiated materials and research-based instructional strategies.
  • Oversee instructional coaches.
  • Coach teachers on effective planning, instruction, and assessment of the curriculum.
  • Collaborate with teachers on lesson plan design and implementation.
  • Provide ongoing support of literacy and technology integration in the content area.
  • Attend BOE, parent-teacher organization, or other meetings when requested.
  • Collaborate with other district specialists and CSDE representatives on best practices and state initiatives.
  • Coordinate curriculum and assessment projects, under the direction of the Director of Curriculum and Instruction.
  • Develop and implement curriculum and instructional support services in a manner consistent with Board of Education policy and best practice.
  • Work closely with principals, assistant principals, and teachers to target Tier II and III instruction and improve progress monitoring tools and processes.
  • Responsibilities include evaluations.

Benefits

  • Salary and benefits as outlined in the Administrator’s Contract ($133,227 pro-rated with start date)
  • 207 day work year (work teacher work year (187 days) plus an additional 20 days) which is pro-rated with start date.
