About The Position

Belmont Charter Network is a family of 5 community schools centered on the central mission to promote the academic, social, and emotional well-being of each child. Our schools are supported by a non-profit partner to provide holistic services to the school, including out-of-school time, our social work project, and Head Start. We believe that schools and learning should be joyful! We believe that education is the single biggest way we can disrupt the systemic racism that impacts Philadelphia and, by extension, our country. Our approach is grounded in trauma-informed practice. The Prek Teacher Assistant (TA) at Belmont Charter Academy is responsible for supporting students’ school success by working collaboratively with building educators. The ideal applicant is a highly motivated, energetic, and mission-aligned individual interested in providing high-quality, engaging care for students across a variety of settings, including the classroom, the lunchroom, recess, and one-on-one support. This is a 10-month position that is supervised by a member of the school leadership team in partnership with the lead teacher.

Requirements

CDA, Associate's, or B.A./B.S. degree from an accredited institution
Experience working with children
All employees must be able to provide a Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check Clearance (Act 34), Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151), Federal Bureau of Investigation Record Check Clearance (Act 114), and a Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Clearance (Act 168) before starting work on campus

Responsibilities

Execute small and whole group learning using the required curriculum
Actively manage and engage students in a variety of settings, including recess, lunch, classroom, arrival, and dismissal.
Proactively support students who are struggling behaviorally using trauma-informed practices and Responsive Classroom (all staff members are given professional development around the above)
Track student progress and maintain student data
Ensure a safe, joyful, welcoming, and clean school environment
Proactively communicate and collaborate with the lead classroom teacher on best instructional practices to maximize student progress
Attend school-based or network-level professional development sessions as assigned by supervisor
Attend school-wide meetings
Support OST programs as assigned by the supervisor
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
