About The Position
High Jump is seeking Teaching Assistants for Saturday sessions to work in person at one of their three campuses: University of Chicago Lab Schools, Latin School of Chicago, or Francis W. Parker. The role involves supporting students and teachers in the classroom, supervising meals, assisting with arrival and dismissal, taking attendance, and attending weekly faculty meetings. A mandatory professional development day will be held prior to the start of the sessions.
Requirements
- Must be an alumni of High Jump
- Must be 16 years of age
- Strong commitment to working with middle school students
- A willingness to learn, collaborate, and accept feedback
- Ability to take on responsibilities such as assisting with small group lessons, arrival/dismissal, and supervision of students
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to build rapport with middle and high school age students
- Attend all sessions
Responsibilities
- Support 5 sections of students each day for 60 minutes each.
- Supervise breakfast and lunch for students.
- Assist with arrival and dismissal procedures.
- Take attendance during each class.
- Attend weekly faculty meetings.
