Pre-K Childcare Staff – Before & After School
About The Position
Healthy Kids Programs is hiring part-time Childcare Staff for its Before and After School Program at Arthur S. May School in Poughkeepsie, New York, for the 2026–2027 school year. The schedule follows the school calendar. The morning program runs from 6:30 AM to 8:45 AM, and the afternoon program runs from 2:00 PM to 6:30 PM; opportunities may be available for either program or both. The position is non-exempt and pays $16.00–$17.00 per hour. The role involves leading activities and homework support, maintaining a safe and engaging environment, following applicable state and program policies, and assisting with program operations. Healthy Kids Programs provides employer-paid childcare for eligible school-age children enrolled in the program during the employee’s work hours. The organization operates Early Learning, Before and After School, and Summer Camp programs at more than 150 locations and is a certified Benefit Corporation.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, or at least one year of experience working with children under age 13.
- Required health clearance, including TB screening, in accordance with state regulations.
- Positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and reliability.
- Ability to bend, stretch, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds while actively engaging with children throughout the day.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum, including fitness, STEAM, academic, art, and other group activities, as well as homework completion.
- Provide a safe, healthy, and fun environment and act as a positive role model for children in the program.
- Follow state guidelines, Healthy Kids Extended Day Program policies, and host school policies.
- Support program operations, which may include attendance records, registration, and staffing responsibilities.
