About The Position

St. Francis Medical Center is a leading comprehensive healthcare institution in Los Angeles, providing vital healthcare services to the community. It is recognized for its full range of diagnostic and treatment services in various specialties and offers a broad array of education and outreach programs. St. Francis Medical Center is a Comprehensive Stroke Center, STEMI Receiving Center, ED Approved for Pediatrics, Geriatric ED, Level III Neonatal ICU, and Level II Trauma Center. The Pre-Hospital Care Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all pre-hospital care activities within an assigned base station area, ensuring compliance with the Paramedic Base Hospital Agreement and adhering to policies, procedures, and protocols established by the Department of Health Services County of Los Angeles, EMS Agency. This role involves planning, organizing, directing, reviewing, and evaluating daily operations, programs, personnel, and activities. The coordinator will develop and implement policies and procedures, ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, provide counseling and direct services, and offer administrative support. Additionally, the position entails providing professional and technical training, assistance, and support to dispatch and other EMS staff, promoting quality service, and performing related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Current and valid state license as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • Current ACLS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
  • Current PALS (AHA) certificate and/or ENPC 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
  • Current MICN Certification
  • Minimum of 1 year experience as an MICN
  • 2 years’ experience in emergency department or other emergency services experience

Nice To Haves

  • TNCC and ENPC Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all pre-hospital care activities within assigned base station area in compliance with the Paramedic Base Hospital Agreement and in accordance with policies, procedures, and protocols established by the Department of Health Services County of Los Angeles, EMS Agency.
  • Under administrative direction, plan, organize, direct, review, and evaluate day-to-day operations, programs, personnel, and activities.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state rules and regulations.
  • Provide counseling and direct services to consumers.
  • Provide administrative support to manager, coordinators, and shift supervisors.
  • Provide professional and technical training, assistance and support to dispatch staff and other EMS staff.
  • Perform related work as assigned.
  • Promote and provide quality service.
