The Pre-Doctoral Fellow proposes and undertakes a mentored, innovative research project to develop novel molecular therapies for inherited retinal degenerative diseases (IRDs). The work includes studying host–AAV interactions and retinal tropism, developing enabling gene therapy technologies, and potentially translating preclinical therapeutic gene-transfer programs. The fellow performs in vivo experiments to characterize retinal phenotypic defects in mouse models of IRDs, designs and conducts in vitro and animal experiments, analyzes results, and presents findings. The fellow works under the supervision of a Principal Investigator and collaborates with a research team. The position is based in a clinic setting and may also involve remote work; the posting lists the role as onsite.
